COMMUNITY OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH
OF OUR LADY OF HOLY ROSARY
The Community was registred in 1807.
The first temple of Our Lady of Holy Rosary
on the Voskresenskaya hill was sanctified in 1833.
Up to 1917 there were about 20 Catholic temples
on the territory of the Tomsk province.
From 1917 till 1937 all temples were closed, the most
of them were destroyed. The last closed in 1937 was
the Temple of Our Lady of Holy Rosary. In 1937 the last
of 15 priests was subjected to repression.
In 1990 the Temple was returned to the Catholic Community. Public worships have been resumed in it.
In September 1990 the regular Catholic priest came to Tomsk
for the first time after 1937. Since April 1991 the Community
is the member of the Apostolic Administrature
for Latin rite Catholics in the Asian part of Russia
with the Administrative Centre in Novosibirsk.
Apostolic Administrator is His Grace Bishop Iosif Vert.
SPHERE OF ACTIVITY
Sermon of the Gospel of Sant Christ, joint prayers and worships,
as well as various charitable activity. In 1994 the Community opened the house for old and single people with the charitable dining room for homeless people. The Church is the place where the nuns of the Order of Mother Teresa serve their worships.
In September 1993, the Community created the Catholic Gymnasia of General Education, studied in which now
are more than 30 children of different religion.
