INSTITUTE OF PETPOLEUM CHEMISTRY,
SIBERIAN DIVISION OF THE RUSSIAN ACADEMY
OF SCIENCES
Established in August 1968.
SHPERE OF ACTIVITY
Sphere of activity: fundamental investigations
into oil composition and properties;
physico-chemistry of oil systems
and surface phenomena;
information systems on oil chemistry
and geochemistry, ecology, advanced technologies
to enhance oil recovery;
for oil production, preparation,
transportation and refining;
technological aspects
of environmental protection:
cleaning of water and soil surfaces
from oil and oil products;
combined purification of industrial sewage from oil products,
phenols and other organic pollutants
and from heary metals;
devices for scientific researches:
densimeters, microcalorimeters, viscometers,
cryostates, oil product quality analyzers;
materials from products of oil, coal, peat, and other natural raw material processing: inhibitors, additives, dyes,
photosemiconductors, lubricants, sensitizers,
flotation reagents, bioactive substances, etc.
MAIN ACHIEVEMENTS
Researchers of the Institute have developed the complex approach
to oil investigation, have found original methods for separation, fractioning, and analysis of oils, bitumens, and other natural
substances, have created the integrated geoinformational system, including geochemical and chemical characteristics of oils
of West Siberia, data bases on geological, technological,
and ecological information about oil and gas bearing territories
of the Tomsk region, have completed the computer albums.
Developed is a number of new advanced technologies
of oil production, refining, transportation and to enhance oil
recovery. The large-scale tests of technologies
have been carried out in oil fields of West Siberia.
The Institute solves a number of ecological problems:
environmental analysis, detection of pollutants, purification
of territories (soils, waters) from oil and oil products, heavy metals, radionuclides, dioxine, and other harmful substances.
The technology of water purification from oil products
was recommended by the Corporation TOMSKNEFT’ for a wide use. Mastered is the experimental production of adsorbents.
Modern equipment, accreditted laboratories, methods attestested
at the international level allow the analytical monitoring
of oil and oil products, industrial, surface, underground,
and drinking waters, and air to be conducted including
that for the purposes of certification and arbitration.
Unique museum is created in the Institute, containing more
than 3000 oil samples. A block of model installation allows
mastering of experimental productions and testing
of new technologies. There are full-time and correspondence post-graduate cources, dissertation council at the Institute.
Every year 3-4 theses for candidate’s degree are defended.
The Institute is in successfull collaboration with foreign scientists, firms of USA, France, Slovakia, China, Vietnam,
and other countries all over the world.
