MAIN ACHIEVEMENTS
The first botanical gardens in the Asian part of Russia,
founder of horticulture, growing of tropical ans subtropical plants, hothouse culture, and introduction of herbs.
Now the collection of Siberiam Botanical Gardens (SibBG)
includes 600 species of the world flora.
SibBG is the recognized centre on development
of modern phytodesign and landscape architecture in Siberia.
In 70s-80s SibBG from the secondary department became
the large scientific establishment (having the rights of research institute). On opinions of a number of Russian
and foreigh scientists and public figures,
at present SiBG is at the world level of botanical science.
Main stages of SibBG TSU scientific and organizational development and strengthening:
the complex of expositions and landscapes with improved microclimate, providing successfull introduction of medicinal, vegetable, fodder, fruit and berry, flower, and other plants
in the zone of risky farming (south and middle taiga,
annual average temperature -0.6C), was created, 1956-1985;
reconstruction of tropical and subtropical complexes, 1970-1972; hothouses, 1984-1988; nine laboratories, 1971-1983.
