Director of IAO SB RAS since 1969. Chairman of the presidium of the Tomsk Affilate of SB RAS, 1979-1992. Full Member of USSR Academy of Sciences since 1981. Member of the Bureau, 1983-1991. Academician-secretary of the Department of Oceanology, Atmospheric Physics, and Geography of USSR AS and member of the Presidium of RAS since 1991. Honorary Member of the American Optical Society.
