SUPPORT TOMSK BRANCH Branch organization of USAID NEW BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT PROJECT. Public noncommercial organization. Established in September 1995. SPHERE OF ACTIVITY The Center acts within the framework of New Business Development Project, which was developed and is financed by USAID. This Project lasts three years (from September 10, 1993 till September 30, 1996). It is realized in St. Petersburg, Ekaterinburg, Smolensk, Voronezh, Vladivostok, Novosibirsk, and Tomsk. USAID Central office is in Moscow. Main goal of the Project is the formation of favorable medium for the development of small and medium business. The Center renders methodical and other help to educational establishments giving new knowledges in the sphere of business; favours the development of organizations specializing in rendering business services (consulting, audit, marketing, etc.); collaborates with the local administration in order to improve laws, taxation system, and new business support infrastructure; organizes training of businessmen and invites foreign specialists in theory and practice of business. The Center renders a wide variety of informational services based on international and Russian data bases. The Center has also its own data bases, including those on investment sources and investment projects, studying programmes, small and medium business enterprises, USA firms and corporations. Workers of the Center rendered the assistance in creation of the Tomsk Advertising Association, the Association of Businesswomen, the Association of Women in Business. The help is rendered in organizing of the Association of Small High-Technology Firms and Productions. The Center helps in preparation and advancement of business-plans of Tomsk businessmen. The data base is created on clients over Tomsk and the Tomsk region. The program is under realization intended for the creation of the first in the region Industrial Park for new high-technology productions on the base of the experimental plant of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In the near future the Center plans - to hold seminars on evaluation of immovable property and auditing in the different Siberian regions; - to create the Center for teaching in audit and business sciences in collaboration with Tomsk and Novosibirsk higher schools; - to complete the first competition of business-plans, whose participants in addition to money prize can receive the help in searching for interesting investors; - to work in collaboration with large industrial associations for creation of small and medium branch production firms and associations on their base; - to help in organization of a regional leasing company oriented towards the rendering of services for small and medium business enterprises; - to create and support the information-analytical Center oriented towards needs of small and medium business; - to seek for partners and investors for developing business. In accordance with USAID New Business Development Project, the Center itself does not invest and give credits. At the same time, the Center collaborates with a number of American, Russian, and international foundations in order to attract means into the development of small and medium business in the Tomsk region.
